We had so much fun putting on Orange County WordCamp last year that we are doing it again! We are currently in the planning stages for OCWC 2011, setting goals, courting speakers, looking for sponsors… No commitments yet, but it’s shaping up to be a great event.
Based on the survey we sent out after the event and the feedback we received here’s what we’d like to improve:
- CRASH COURSE – Many people mentioned they were complete WordPress n00bs, so right from the gate they were out of their element. We were thinking of starting the beginner track with a 2 hour crash course on the basics of WordPress.
- GENIUS BAR – Get some one-on-one time and ask specific questions.
- FREE PARKING – Last year at UCI we weren’t able to manage free parking which added to the cost of the event. We’d like to remedy that this year.
- FUNDRAISING – We were super green in this department last year. Hopefully this year we’ll be able to reach out a bit more, get some more sponsors to help make the event better and lower the ticket price. (We are grateful to all our sponsors from last year, of course!)
- DEVELOPER DAY – We didn’t have a developer day last year. Taking on the camp itself was enough. But this year we are considering adding on an unconference free-for-all for the Sunday after the event.
- REDUCE WASTE – Bring your own coffee mugs!
We hope to add these things to all we had last year – great speakers, good venue, breakfast, lunch, raffle, shirts and so on to make an even better event for everyone.
And of course, if you have any suggestions for topics, speakers, venues, additions or anything, please drop us a line. We’d love to hear from you.
I am always down to help!
